ESTABLISHMENT YEAR ＆ PLACE
Established August 2009 by creative director Ayumi, and based out of the landmark vintage boutique “SLOW” on Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, California, “As Is” merges current styles and cultural visuals with vintage details from different eras across history.The “As Is” aesthetic comes from ancient tribesmen and the shared American experience of it's many people expressed by working fashion techniques of the past into cunrent silhouettes madefrom jersey fabrics.
“As Is” products are all made in U.S.A. and sold in store SLOW(Los Angeles),Planet Blue(Los Angeles), Ron Herman(Los Angeles), EPIC(Los Angeles),VILLAINS(San Francisco) etcand several locations in Japan.
The 2010 A/W season was inspired by Native American tribal symbols which are printed with vibrant colors in a high-density technique to simulate actual beadwork on recycled cotton slub and heather fabric in natural colors.Accessories made to match in a variety of colors from all-natural cotton thread, beads, feathers,leathers, furs and stones complete the “As Is” line to create an unique ethnic style.
